Minecraft Rivers22-11-2016 | 16:31:21 | 10 Comments

Y5N have been learning about the water cycle in geography. Previously, they used the app Chatterpix to bring clouds to life and explain how they are formed (see post below). Today they used Minecraft to create rivers. Their instructions were to build an environment in Minecraft that shows how rivers are formed and where they travel. They had to include signs in their world to label the parts of the river. They have made a start and will develop the world further next week. Can any other pupils in the school help out Y5N by sharing any Minecraft tips to help them create their rivers? Which blocks would you suggest they use? Please leave your tips as comments below this post. Perhaps you could try to create your own river in Minecraft or another environment that you have been studying in geography.

Rere in Y5 has made an animation in Scratch about anti-bullying. Click on the link here to see it.
Well done Rere!

This week at school all pupils will be taking part in activities for Anti-Bullying Week.  I will be coming around to your  classes to work with you to  create an interactive Anti-Bullying presentation.  I have made a start on it,  you can see it by clicking on the link below:

Year 3M created this video presentation for Anti-Bullying week. They were asked to think about the Anti-Bullying assembly we had in school last week when Amber visited. The pupils have shared their thoughts and reflections on the messages from the drama presentation that Amber delivered. Click on the red play buttons that you see on the image below to watch their individual videos. The pupils used the iPad app ThingLink to create the presentation.
Well done to 3M

Pupils from Y4B made this animated short film about cyber bullying.

Meet The Ancient Greek Soldiers Who Were Inside The Trojan Horse!01-11-2016 | 19:35:43 | 12 Comments

Year 5 pupils have been learning about the Ancient Greeks. They found out about the Trojan Wars and wrote a diary entry as one of the soldiers who were inside the horse.

I have posted some of the videos they made using the Morpho Booth app to record themsleves as a Greek soldier. Watch their videos below to hear how they felt about the events. You can watch more of their videos on our school YouTube site but please remember our e-safety rules. Do not go on to watch other videos on YouTube without first asking your parents.

If pupils from the other year groups would like to find out more about this wooden horse and why the Greek soldiers hid inside it, you can use this link to explore further: http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/primaryhistory/ancient_greeks/greek_world/
Well done to year 5N

This morning  during assembly Amber came and talked about Anti-bullying week. Amber discussed different types of bullying:

Physical bullying;  pushing ,punching, intimidating someone physically.

Emotional bullying:  excluding people with the intention of upsetting them, saying mean things about their appearance.

Cyber bulling;  using social media to upset people on purpose and taking the advantage of being anonymous.

Amber also spoke about the danger of being a bystander to bullying.  What did she mean  by this? Please leave your answer in the comments section.
